Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Abu Dhabi, marking the final leg of his two-nation tour following a successful visit to Paris.

During his day-long visit to the UAE, he is scheduled to meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss and review the growing bilateral ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi's visit to the UAE comes after his participation in the Bastille Day parade in Paris as the Guest of Honour, where he also signed several agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between India and France.

The focus of Modi's discussions in the UAE will encompass various sectors such as energy, food security, and defense. Both countries will assess the progress made in their bilateral relations following the signing of a significant trade agreement, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), even amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Highlighting the importance of the visit, Prime Minister Modi expressed his anticipation to meet his friend Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and emphasized the wide range of areas in which India and the UAE are engaged. These areas include trade, investments, energy, food security, science and technology, education, fintech, defense, security, and strong people-to-people ties.

The UAE hosts the largest ethnic community of Indian expatriates, constituting approximately 30% of the country's population. The number of resident Indian nationals in the UAE was estimated to be around 3.5 million in 2021, according to UAE records.
